Superhappyfuntimeshow sprang from the ashes of the Kropotkin & Hendrix Game Review Show and started in January 2008. Hosted by Kropotkin AKA Chris O’Regan, Hendrix AKA Pat McTie, Bloodshot Robot AKA Chris Champlin and Jason “Alphabox” Pfister, the show is a review of the week in gaming and is released every Sunday.
We also have a sister show, ThreePlayerGame that was launched in January 2010. This show digs a great deal deeper into the world of video games by examining them as well as the people who play and make them. This show is hosted by Chris “FMLuder” Penfold, Jon “Digital Firefly” Bauer and Chester “GK128″ Greczkowski. It is released every Wednesday.
The ‘mission statement’ of the podcast (if indeed we have one) is to entertain and inform. Sometimes the entertain bit can overwhelm the inform section, but its a sacrifice we’re willing to make.
One other unique facet to the show is that it is hosted by an Englishman and two Americans. This allows us to take a view on what’s occurring in the world of video games from both sides of the Atlantic.
Chris “Kropotkin” O’Regan
Has been playing video games of some sort since 1978 when he first encountered a Pong machine in Margate (small town in the south coast of the UK) when he was a wee nipper. Over the years he took the usual route that most older gaming folk will recognise i.e. Pong machine -> Intellivision (spare me the ‘rich kid’ remarks!) -> ZX81 -> ZX Spectrum -> Atari ST ->Sega Master System (can we forget that bit?) -> Amiga -> PC -> PSone etc -> Previous Gen -> Current Gen. He likes to think therefore that he knows a thing or two about video games, but is in fact utterly clueless. Nevermind eh?
Pat “Hendrix” McTie
From the frozen tundra of Minnesota. Another veteran of the Neroimus wars, and the squad leader of the fabled Allgames squad. Might have also been spotted fighting alongside Bloodshot in the “Vegas” special ops. Hendrix is also a multiple series champion in Forza 2, including back to back DTMRS titles, and various other touring car series. He also hates World of Warcraft. With a passion. Hendrix is also one of the creators of the Kropotkin and Hendrix Game review, and Superhappyfuntimeshow.
Chris “Bloodshot Robot” Champlin
Christopher “Crazy Legs” BloodShot was born and raised in the shallow muddy waters of the Louisiana bayou. He first made the acquaintances of Kropotkin and Hendrix during his service for The Republic of Morskoj in the battle for control of Neroimus, a region somewhere near Black Sea. Even as a lowly recruit he showed great commander skills and quickly scaled the chain of command. He eventually reached the position of second in command, reporting only to Squad leader Hendrix. He is best know for his role in the design and testing of the famed Triple X Hound. After Morskoj’s glorious victory he retired as a Chrome Hound and went on to serve as part of a secret government black ops team rumored to be called “Rainbow 6″. His actions during this time are currently classified, although he is believed to have taken part in the “Vegas” incident. Since then he has had many occupations including but not limited to adventurer, race car driver, rocket race champion, drug trafficker, and locust exterminator, as well as aiding the survivors of the zombie apocalypse. His last known location is somewhere in the land of Albion where he lives with his family and occasionally performs heroic deeds.
Chester “gk128″ Greczkowski
The creator of the Jaded Gamer segment of the SHFTS. He is indeed quite Jaded since he is able to point out the flaws in almost everything. Like Bloodshot and Firefly he also joined up with the other members of SHFTS through the glory of Chromehounds. His most famous hound being “The Pope” who routinely “excommunicated” other hounds. Like all the other Chromehound legends gk found himself as a member of Ghost Squad during operation “Vegas”.
He is a recent college graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Graphics & New Media.. He currently has no idea what he doing with his life, but he is sure it will involve bitching about stuff for a long time to come.
Jon “DigitalFirefly” Bauer
The man behind the Words About Games segment joined the SHFTS crew in late 2008. Much like Bloodshot Robot he joined forces with Krop and Hendrix during the Neroimus Wars. He’s best know for his “Kickin’ Chicken” line of Hounds. Let us not forget his famous sniper mech “Wesley Snipes”.
Currently residing in Pennsylvania, DigitalFirefly’s favorite activities include: sending his Xbox 360 in for repair, checking Twitter every 5 minutes, buying games on Steam and not playing them, renting scary games and not playing them because they’re too scary, and long walks on the beaches of Westfall. His goal is to one day sell his chromehounds2.com domain and retire.
Scott “Binary667″ Robbins
Avid Rock Band player (not that he’s all that good at it), resident Resident Evil 5 apologist, and co-inventor of the portable wall (for all your severe weather needs.) When not gaming, Binary667 can often be found watching sub-standard movies, listening to an absurd amount of podcasts, or complaining about his oft broken refrigerator.
Although he started late on this generation and missed out on all the Chromehounds action, he did aid in stopping numerous zombie apocalypses, ending a terrorist threat, and systematically annihilating orange pegs with a rabbit.
Chris “chrisphil” Phillips
If you’re looking for some competition, look no further then Chris Phillips. Unlike Hendrix, Bloodshot, Gk128 and Firefly, chrisphil decided to join the evil (and by proxy much more powerful) Zircon Army during the great Neroimus Wars of 2006 A.D. The clash between these powerful armies left millions dead and was only ended when the arms company “Microsoft” raised the prices on their most powerful weapons.
Since the war, Chris has returned to his day job, filming people play a form a soccer that is played on ice. I believe it is called “Curling”. He is now using his video editing skills on the SuperHappyGameTime Show. Word of warning, when driving anywhere in the proximity of chrisphil, all crashes that may happen are automatically your fault.
Chris “FmLuder” Penfold
FmLuder is known as Chris Penfold in real life (no Danger Mouse jokes please…uhm yeah, now all I will hear are Danger Mouse jokes…but at least the Americans won’t understand)
Jason “Alphabox” Pfister
Hailing from the Midwest, Jason “Alphabox” Pfister has been playing games ever since his father gave him a Coleco Mini Arcade version of Pac-Man. Growing up it was Flight Sims & Sports games a few of his favorites are F16 fighting Falcon (SMS); Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe (PC); Tie Fighter (PC); NHL 94(Genesis); and NBA JAMS (Sega x32). Admitted achievement junkie and podcast veteran (formerly of DPL) he brings tales of debauchery and bad movies to shfts crew. If he is not playing games then he is either drunk in a bar or at a concert. Pretty much anywhere fine booze are available for consumption.
Slomo
I code games. I make the best games ever. I have made a picture of myself. Take a look.
